EMILY'S CHEETAH SONG

Kids and Conservation!

Meet Cheetahkids.com

"I want to help spread the fact that there are only a few thousand Cheetahs left in the world and if we don't do something soon Cheetahs may be gone forever. Through Cheetah Kids I hope to help save the Wild Cheetahs."  -Cameron

Since the age of four Cameron has been fascinated with cheetahs. In kindergarten he drew pictures and wrote stories about a cheetah named "Fast Spot" and asked his mother to make a cheetah costume for Halloween, which she actually hot glued on over 700 spots!! For his seventh birthday he adopted a cheetah from the National Zoo in Washington D.C. to help protect them and fund research. Today, Cameron continues to nurture his passion through reading books and creating art, his room is wall-to-wall cheetah from photos and paintings to blankets, quilts and stuffed animals. He has devoted his young life to this majestic animal. It is from his passion that CheetahKids.com was created. When asked why he wanted a website, Cameron simply replied, "For the love of Cheetahs." Enough said.

A letter from one of our Kids4Cheetahs Ambassadors

Your Love of Cheetahs Could Get You Noticed!

When I was eight years old and contacted the Cheetah Conservation Fund, I hoped to connect with them because of my love of cheetahs. The fact is, the people working in the field saving cheetahs have so little time. They are so busy they rarely if ever take time to play and do anything but work to help cheetahs. They would like to connect with young people who have a passion for cheetahs if only they could find time. I learned this after I made a few contributions to CCF. I asked questions and began to understand that many children write in to CCF and want to help.

When I became the CCF Youth Ambassador, I hoped to help them with their flow of incoming mail, hoped to help children all over the world to get excited about saving cheetahs. The fact is I too got very busy. The good news is there are many young people going ahead and doing wonderful things to help save cheetahs. They are generating money to help those in the field to do the important work to keep our cheetahs alive and free. Some of these children's stories are posted here on our kids' page.

Brittany with CCF’s Exeuctive Director, Dr. Laurie Marker.Just by talking about the problems cheetahs face, we are educating others and getting noticed for making a difference. We are doing something very important. Everything we do to save an animal is very important. The more we do, the bigger the difference we make and the closer we come to saving the cat we love the most.

My friends and neighbors often ask me about the wild cheetahs and I know they are thinking of them when they think of me. When I host a fundraiser for cheetahs, lots of people donate money just because they love what I am doing with my time. Other children learn that they can make a big difference when I give a talk about saving cheetahs. We even get adults excited about what they can do to help us. And the people at CCF who are so busy can't help but notice when a child does something as extraordinary as raising awareness and sometimes even money for cheetahs. So, when you want to do something for cheetahs or any animal, just do it. Don't worry if you aren't noticed the very first time you mention what you plan to do. Just start planning and see all the help and attention you attract with the people around you just with your passion and your motivation.

With so much information available on the CCF website, anyone can find what they need. The more you do on your own the more people take notice. The fact is you can make a difference and you can start things going on your own. You have amazing abilities! It doesn't take a lot to get others to notice that you are serious. Good luck and let us know as you reach your goals!

Your cheetah friend,
Brittany
